EP 32 - One Is Too Many: A Conversation About Teen Suicide
Description
On this episode of Pause for Parenting, Tanya Newton, Clinical Psychologist and Executive Member of the Barbados Society of Psychology, joins us for an important conversation about suicide among teens and young people. She explores some of the risk factors that may increase a young person’s vulnerability to suicidal thoughts and behaviors and discusses the circumstances parents should pay particular attention to.
Tanya also provides practical guidance to help parents recognize changes in mood, behavior, communication, and everyday functioning that may signal that a child is struggling. Most importantly, she discusses how parents can respond, start difficult conversations, and help their children access the support they need.
Because noticing the signs, asking the right questions, and responding early could help save a young life.
